Chapter 10

Beatrice told him to get on the handlebars of the bike she had. They rode to his house, where he got medical supplies, and hamburger meat. They then rode to the junkyard. Once they got there, they entered the ice-cream truck, where the boy was. He had a few puncture wounds on his leg, but nothing bad. Unfortunately, none of their medicine could help it. He decided it was safe to explain what he was doing, and when the boy realized that they brought the hamburger meat, he told them to follow him. They got on the bike and rode to the pancake house site, where they spread the meat. As it got dark, tiny heads started to poke up from holes around the property. The boy told Roy that they were Burrowing Owls. This was why the boy had been doing what he was doing.
